| | New year new runners - we continue with the interview series and welcome Gabriela Hiršová to the club! | We are happy that you, Gabriela, want to run in OK Linné's colors! For those who don't know you yet. Who is Gabriela Hiršová?
I am a 26 years old girl from Brno. If you want to know more, read the following answers! :)
As a runner from the Czech republic, how did you get in contact with Uppsala and OK Linné?
I have been in a relationship with Miloš Nykodým for almost 5 years and he has been a member of OK Linné for all that time. He is always excited to spend time with the team and he offered me to join.
Have orienteering always been part of your life?
Always. My parents met each other at an orienteering event, so I’ve been conected to orienteering since the beginnig of my life. I did my first race together with my mum and brother in the cathegory for kids+parents when I was 6 years old. My dad was crazy about orienteering all his life, my mum stll occasionaly participates in some races and Otakar is a proud member of Žabovřesky Brno (as me and Miloš) and Helsingin Suunnistajat. As a junior, I was a member of the Czech junior team. Nowadays I often travel with Miloš to terrains where he prepares himself to world’s competitions.
What are your goals for the upcoming year?
In the end of March I am going to start full time job for the first time in my life and I have no idea how much time and energy I’ll have left for training. This is a reason why I don’t have any specific goal for this year. All I know is that I want to keep running and orienteering and I want to stay at the same level that I am used to.
You have been to Sweden a few times, which is your favorite map or place?
I counted that I have been to Sweden six times, each time a training camp and a different place. I really enjoyed orienteering in Lunsen and in the forests around Idre Fjall.
What do you prefer to do on a day off without training?
Nothing interesting or surprising, but always appreciated: spending time with Miloš, my best friends and my family, hiking in the mountains, traveling and exploring new places, playing games.
Dream leg on 10mila?
No preference. I have never run 10mila so far, so I would be happy to take part and run whichever leg.
