Holiday weekend in Hälsingland

The holiday weekend in Hälsingland included lots of different types of orienteering races and some nice time to relax together at the hostel too. Over 40 Linné club members enjoyed the long weekend and 4 days of racing.

The four days of racing included four very different types of races. Thursday's course was long and fast while Friday's course was tough and tricky.

Times were so close on Thursday that a 15 second hesitation could mean several places in the results. However, on Friday it was most important to avoid the big mistakes which were easy to make on the detailed rocky hillsides.

Saturday's middle courses challenged runners to maintain a good flow and perfect accuracy while running fast through the mostly open forests. Saturday also featured an intense forest sprint race for the juniors as part of the Silva Junior Cup.

Sunday's terrain was fairly flat with controls placed on many point features and there was the added pressure of the head-to-head racing in the relay. Overall it was a great weekend of racing with many good results for Linne runners, especially of course the victory in the relay!

After the races everyone enjoyed sharing dinner, looking over courses, playing kubb or cards, analyzing winsplits, putting together puzzles, and looking at the terrain pictures for next week's DX Deluxe races.

It was great fun to spend the weekend with everyone from the club and to practice my svenska. A big thank you to all who helped organize the weekend!
